The site has an area of 12378.5 ft², yet poses an irregular shape and uneven extension at the rear, creating a distinctive feature. The massing is arranged centrally in the second half, fitting the site's shape and leaving enough room for a spacious courtyard in front, which is both a buffer space to approach the house and an uncluttered view overlooking the road.

The family members desire their house to accommodate their requirements for gathering around, conveniently visiting and taking care of each other while still keeping the privacy of each individual's living area. It is a legitimate need in our lives today.

To tackle the issues, the feasible solution is the massing combination of spaces for living and sub-spaces arranged independently according to each floor but connected by vertical circulation networks including elevators, stairs, and circulation networks including corridors and lobby.

This feature assists family members in the use of common areas everyday such as the garden, walkway and party zone. In terms of functionality, each block is still fully functional for a detached house and according to the preferences of each individual member in that house.

However, the facing direction of the house is overlooking the road and also towards the west. Therefore, it is also necessary to take measures to minimize the impact of sunlight in the afternoon.

The curves and multiple-layer levels of the house block aim to change the direction of the light, prevent direct radiation, and use the interlacing of porous concrete walls to shield the house from sunlight while allowing good wind circulation and creating aesthetics for the building facade.

In addition, the house is designed with different places for plants inside and outside. This design improves the liveliness, freshness and feeling of being immersed in nature, and significantly reduces the amount of harsh sunlight during the day.
